Terry McAuliffe has accused Bush and pals of distorting Kerry's military record. Yes, they are distorting his record, but come on Terry this is your job to set the record straight. Asking (or rather begging) Bush to call off the attack dogs doesnt do anything. You need to unleash some of your own. It's starting to look like the entire democratic party isnt up to the fight the GOP is bringing. Kerry seems incapable of winning this election. Slate is reporting that Kerry is messing up florida. The whole medal issue is turning into a real mess. It's truly a shame. The democratic party's stance on issues is inline with so many americans. Kerry needs to be a better candidate with stronger stances and less excuses. Or perhaps we should have nominated someone else....

An article in TNR's Campaign Journal portrays the boredom of the White House Press Corps. I again contend, as I have before, that President Bush needs to answer more questions. It is incredulous that the President of a country that guarantees freedom of the press is so closed to reporters. I beg you President Bush, for the sake of the freedoms on which this country was founded, don't shield yourself from public scrutiny. It is public accountability that allows democracy to flourish.

It was pointed about by my conservative friend over at emerblog that the blogger ads powered by google are for the RNC. Is this some sort of google plot? Its a right-wing, blogger-google conspiracy. Pretty soon the DNC will call for an investigation and as per party rules Republicans will "lose" documents, lie, intimidate and stonewall all attempts at the truth.

Once again this administration is attempting to cover up the fact that they were always determined to go to war. The Washington Post reports on Secretary Rumsfeld's statement to Woodward for his forthcoming book. Rumsfeld told Woodward that he gave a war timetable to Saudi Arabia in January 2003. This is shocking as the U.S. was supposedly still trying to pursue diplomatic means to end the conflict with Iraq. Mysteriously, this whole conversation with Woodward is absent from the official Pentagon transcript of the interview. Will the cover-up ever end....

Come Out Of The Closet!

The NY Times points out that Bush doesn't seem to care for press conferences. This seems innocuous enough but if you look closer I think its endemic of a much larger issue. Bush does not seem to think he needs to answer to anyone. Its more than Bush getting nervous during these press conferences, Bush feels reporters are intruding on what he deems is none of their business. An administration such as this one, which has some pretty "aggressive" policies should be out there fielding questions more than other administrations, not less!! The idea that a US president thinks he can sit inside his office and not answer to anyone is not just wrong, its unsettling.

Polls Polls Everywhere But Not A Drop Of Info

Josh Marshall has an interesting piece on all the polling being done. I personally think that the majority of Americans have made up their minds on which candidate they support. There are perhaps a few thousand likely voters in each state that are unsure. The only hope that either party has to significantly increase their leads is to register new voters and hope for record turnouts whithin their parties.

Is this a sign of trouble to come for the Bush administration? The article doesnt say much but it seems that there is a lot more under the surface. The re-election campaign can be seriously hurt by another stonewalling by the president and his gang of thugs. Condi testifying, the Clinton papers and now this. Good thing job growth is up, Bush and pals will be looking.

GOP Hypocrisy

An article on the foxnews site explains the GOP complaint about the 527's that liberal groups are setting up to help Kerry. The GOP say they are not in the spirit of the law and they are calling Dems hypocrites. But buried on the last line of the article is an interesting point. Apparently the GOP (or their friends) have also set up such organizations, but they aren't doing so well. What is hypocritical is the GOP. They only have an issue because they can't keep up. If they really felt it was wrong why did they do it at all! These accusations are so frivolous its almost laughable! The GOP needs to stop trying to find the hypocrisy of others and start looking at themselves.

Clarke And The Book

Just a thought on the whole Clarke controversy: I personally believe him, he served under 4 administrations, 3 of them republican, he is not biased. However, what troubles me is that he wrote a book. Clearly he is making money off of it. If he wanted to be as credible as possible he should have just blown the whistle. I guess the draw of the dough was too much.
